Hi,
I’m so happy that you are here to read the April 2023 newsletter.
For those of you who do not know me, I’m Florina, friends call me Ina, a self taught illustrator that just loves to draw and explore new creative techniques.
This newsletter will take you on a journey of the creativity events I attended the previous month, what’s on my mind for this month, books and podcasts I’m loving and the best study on how to draw a specific thing from nature, mostly flowers that I’m obsessed with. Take it as a curated list of all creative stuff that one can do on the internet.
Daisy - so simple yet so sophisticated.
I’ve prepared a compilation of famous paintings with daisies and botanical illustrations, characters and even a pattern.
How would you draw a daisy? Oh, there are so many ways: abstract, loose, botanical - therefore more realistic or even transform it into a personified character.
Below you can find my take on daisies.
3x3 Design Challenge from @sketchdesignrepeat
A pattern design challenge 3 weeks with 3 prompts (from there the name) with its pop-up facebook group and moodboards. Just lovely and very well time paced. What did I create? 3 pattern collections of what I love most: “Sea life - shells and corals”.
Monday February 27th, 2023 - *FREE* FIVE WAYS TO MONETISE YOUR DESIGNS, EXPERIENCE AND CREATIVITY from @makeitindesign or https://makeitindesign.com/ and the Adobe Live: Digitising Your Doodles and Creating Pattern Designs
Very explanatory self paced course from Make it in design led by @rachaeltaylor_
My favorite module is definitely “FREELANCING AND DESIGN COMMISSIONS” that explains very well and from own experience how the licensing business works.
A big takeaway for me is from the Adobe life session on how a pattern can be created from the different bits and pieces from the same objects, negative space included.
Monday 20th of March - Friday, March 24th Creative Recovery Challenge from @jennarainey
You join a private group and get the Creative Recovery Journal and follow the 6 days guidance exploring the 5 prompts. A very intimate and introspective exploration of the creative process and how to unblock your creativity. For this I’ve taken my notes, my reflections and created a painting from the inspirational poem that was shared - The Journey by David Whyte

Loving my watercolors from Daniel Smith, a lot of texture going on, but just lovely for loose watercolor painting. The colors picked for Jean Haines’ Master Artist Watercolor Set are perfect for florals.
With these you can go ahead and if missing inspiration enter to the the free section of the Online Art School of Jean Haine where you have some free tutorials at https://watercolourinspiration.com/
Hope you enjoyed my discoveries or wandering into the creative world. Have something to share with me or a specific thing you want to hear me talking about? Just write me an e-mail or a DM on instagram @lanaturalezapintada
Until next month, enjoy spring and all the colorful inspiration outside in nature!
